Mr. Gary Paul Mitchell

Gary Paul Mitchell, 64, went to be with Jesus on Monday, October 11, 2021 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. The family will receive friends for graveside visitation on Saturday, October 16th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with Graveside Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Clear Branch Cemetery. The family will gather after the service at 379 Clear Branch Road in Florence, MS. Gary was born August 19, 1957 in Jackson, MS to the late Frank G. and Ora Lee Smith Mitchell. He grew up in South Jackson before making Florence his home. He worked as a mechanic for over 30 years and was a 3rd Degree Black Belt. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was an avid woodworker and has chairs and swings in MS, LA, AL, and FL. He also loved to travel. Gary is survived by his wife of 18 years, Penny Mitchell of Florence; daughters, Cynthia (Rob) Stokes, Danielle (Justin) Miller, and Ashley (Brad) Scott; son, Jonathan Smith; grandchildren, Justin Mitchell, Kristy Thornton, Anna Stokes, Hailey Miller, Makayla Miller, Reagan Miller, and Catherine Scott.
