Freddie Cammack Jones age 90, of Terry, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026. Toby as he was affectionately called was born November 12, 1935 and was a life long native of Terry, MS. Toby attended school in Terry where he met and married his wife. the former Lillie R. Hales. Toby and Lillie were married on May 15, 1953 and spent 73 years honoring their commitment to each other.
Toby began working for the Illinois Central Railroad at an early age, before serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon completion of his Navy service Toby returned to work with the Illinois Central Railroad. He continued his work with the railroad for another 40 years.
Toby was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Terry, where he served in many roles including a deacon. Toby was known for his love and service for the Lord.
Toby was extremely proud of the family he and Lillie created through their two sons, Stephen Warren and Jeffrey Wayne. They spent time together playing sports, hunting, or fishing. These hobbies continued as their family grew. Toby also enjoyed golf and traveling all around the United States upon retirement.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Laureen Cammack Jones and father, Fred Jones; and son, Jeffrey Wayne Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Jones; son, Stephen (Jo), and three grandchildren, Mandy Wilson (Josh) of Starkville, Misty Vanderford (Clint) of Terry, and Julie Jones of Terry. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation Thursday evening, April 23, 2026, from 5pm until 7pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. The Funeral service will be Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11am at First Baptist Church of Terry. Following the service he will be buried at Terry City Cemetery in Terry.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to MS Baptist Children's Village.
