Evelyn Carlene White-Lewis

Evelyn Carlene White Lewis, 91, of the Old Pearl Community in Harrisville, Mississippi, entered her heavenly home on October 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 8, 1934, to Buford White and Katherine Tucker White of Star, Mississippi. Carlene was one of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death: Lonnie B. White, Albert Lee White, Mamie Rogers, Benton White, Lucy Little, Viola Shows, James White, and J.B. White.

Affectionately known as “Mama,” Carlene was the heart of her family. Her home was always filled with warmth - the smell of home cooked meals, the sound of laughter, and the comfort of her steady presence. She poured her life into her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren leaving them a heritage of love, prayer, and strength rooted in her faith in God. She was blessed with six children: Windell Lewis, Mike Lewis, Edith Ross, Freda Cranford, Beverly Spruiell, and Teresa Barber; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Bracie Lewis, and by her great-grandchild, Hayden King.

Her life was the testimony of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love. Though she would be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is resting safely in the arms of Jesus.
