Ernest Lynn Saxton

Ernest L. Saxton died Sunday, May 14, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi.  He was 68 years old.

Ernest was born on February 11, 1955, to Philip Ernest Saxton and Dorothy L. Edwards Guess in Yazoo City. He was a veteran of 12.5 years of the U.S. Army and active duty to the Reserve and National Guard. He worked for Frito lay for 17 years. Retired from Hinds County Sheriff’s Department after 23 years of service where he was well respected by inmates and his peers. Ernest loved fishing, hunting, watching westerns and video gaming.

He is preceded in death by parents. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roxann Saxton of Florence; son, Rob Saxton of Brandon; daughter, Nikki Carpenter (Ricky) of Richland; granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Tony) and Traci; great grandchildren, Mason, Peyton and Paisley; sister, Sandra Wheeler of Horn Lake; brothers, Philip Saxton of Philadelphia, PA and Jessie Nichols of Ridgeland; and one fur baby, Tazz.
