Edgar Eugene Sylvester

On April 12, 2009, Edgar Eugene "Gene" Sylvester age 64, passed away while a patient at the Veterans Community Living Center in Jackson, Mississippi after a long battle with cancer.\ \ He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on October 8, 1944. He was self-employed as an air conditioning, heating and refrigeration contractor. He was a lifelong member of Pocahontas Baptist Church. He graduated from Clinton High School, served 4 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and he was a huge advocate for our soldiers at war. He organized care packages and letters to the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a member of the VFW Post 2572 in Vicksburg, American Legion Post 112 and the Moose Lodge in Jackson.\ \ He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Eugene "Sam" Sylvester in 1983. He is survived by 2 daughters Angelia McDonald (Doug) of Magee, MS and Stephanie Shaw (James) of Richland. 1 son, Joey Case (Terri) of Pearl, MS.
