Donnetta Goss Hammack

Donnetta Goss Hammack, born July 14, 1935, passed away on August 21, 2026, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy defined by dedication to family, career, community, and faith.

Donnetta was the beloved wife of William Hammack for 70 years and the cherished mother of three sons: Mark Hammack; Mike Hammack and his wife Kathleen; and Wesley Hammack and his wife Maria; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren She is also survived by her sister, Commie Fazio. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Goss and Lela Goss, as well as her late sisters, Becky Jay and Jimmie Wagner.

Professionally, Donnetta devoted many years to Bellsouth, where her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on those she worked with. Her service extended beyond her career, as she was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she previously sang in the choir, giving her time and talents to her faith community.

Donnetta found great joy in gardening, tending to her flowers with care and passion. 

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Donnetta’s life during visitation on August 24, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home Florence, located at 2576 US 49, Florence, MS 39073. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same venue. Interment will take place at Richland Cemetery, Cleary Road, Richland, MS.

Donnetta Goss Hammack will be remembered for her steadfast love, unwavering integrity, and quiet strength. Her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished always.
