Donavin graduated from Challenge Academy Military School in Hattiesburg after completing his elementary and middle school education in Mobile, AL, and Clinton, MS. His interest in pursuing a career in computer engineering reflected his curious and inventive spirit.
Those who knew Donavin understood that he possessed a unique blend of talents and interests. An exceptional marksman with a love for the outdoors, he found solace in hunting and fishing. In his leisure hours, he immersed himself in the digital world of video games.
Donavin leaves behind his beloved mother, Audrea Nell Pye of Crystal Springs; his father, Ryan Hood of Benton; his dear sister, Iyla Gay of Crystal Springs; maternal grandmother, Charlotte Ward (Terry) of Crystal Springs; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Lisa Hood of Benton; maternal great grandmother Anette Guion of Benton; paternal great grandmother, Geneva Hood of Benton; maternal uncle, William Montgomery Gay of Vidalia, LA; maternal aunts, Robin Renee of Denham Springs, LA and Samantha Petty (Amr) of Mobile, AL; paternal aunt, Alice Anne Hood Upton(Joe) and cousins, Davis Fox and Clyne Shortridge of Pisgah; paternal uncle, Hal Hood (Holly), and their children Madison and Parker Hood all of Collins.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward Gay; uncle, Edward Montgomery Gay Jr.; and stepfather, Eric Lonnie Pye.
Donavin Ryan Hood's journey may have come to an end much too soon, but the impact of his vibrant spirit and genuine kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched the lives of many.
