Crystal Springs

Dianne Elizabeth Holmes, nee Hogan, peacefully departed from this world on October 9, 2023, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, at the age of 76 surrounded by family. She was born on October 5, 1947, in Georgia to the late Martha Elizabeth Burnette Hogan and Billie Earl Hogan. Dianne, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt and friend, will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved spouse, Lewis "Wardell" Holmes. Dianne's profound love and dedication to her family will forever remain etched in the hearts of her children: Connie Yoakum Baxter, Anthony "Tony" Yoakum, and Wesley Holmes, as well as her daughter-in-law, Quay Holmes. Her grandchildren, Jill Bankston (spouse – Adam Bankston), Sarah Baxter, Jessie Holmes, and Wyatt Holmes, will lovingly carry her spirit forward. Dianne's great-grandchildren, Alyssa Bankston, Emma Zelaya, Jayden Zelaya, Parker Bankston, and Penelope Bankston, will always remember their "Mamaw in the woods" and served as a testament to the enduring bonds of family she held dear.

Dianne was a cherished sister to Guy Hogan, Karen Adams, and Angela Jackson. She was also an aunt to nieces and nephews: Chris Hogan, Joe "Fish" Hogan, Brandy Middleton, Lindsay Nelson, Tyler Shivers, and Morgan Honeycutt.  She also held a special place in the hearts of her sister-in-law, Beth Holmes Hux and her spouse, Glenn Hux, as well as nieces and nephew:  Shanon Adams, Tonya Pope and Joanna Cox.

Educated at Florence High School as part of the Class of 1965, Dianne pursued a career with the MS Highway Patrol, eventually moving to the UMC Anatomy Department, where she fervently worked until her well-deserved retirement. Her commitment and passion for her profession were a source of inspiration to her colleagues.

Outside of her esteemed career, Dianne found solace and joy in her various hobbies. Her love of spending time with family and friends was rivalled only by her passion for travelling on the motorcycle, listening to music, working in the yard, and seeking respite along the peaceful banks of the creek. These simple yet significant pleasures brought her immense happiness throughout her life.

Dianne Elizabeth Holmes will forever be remembered as a woman of unwavering kindness, unwavering love, and unyielding dedication to her family. Her departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to live on within our hearts.

The family will be holding a memorial service to commemorate Dianne's life on Saturday, November 4 at 4:00 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church located at 3059 County Line Road in Crystal Springs.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in her honor as a tribute donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
