David Wesley Quarles was born on July 5, 1938. He was one of seven children born to John Coy Quarles and Thelma Corrine McDaniel of Choctaw County. He attended school in Weir and after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Leslie Cummings in August of 1958 and they moved to Jackson where he began a career in sheet metal. He and Leslie had three daughters, Stephanie, Daphanie and Kristi. He enjoyed being outside, working on his farm, and raising horses. He was a deacon and longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Florence.
