Danzie Vea Ray (Blackwell), aged 83, of Terry, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025. Born September 6, 1942, in Tylertown, Mississippi, she was the beloved daughter of L. Ray and Lillian Blackwell.
In 1963, Danzie married the love of her life, Glen Ray, with whom she built a devoted, caring family rooted in faith and kindness. Their lives were centered around God, children, grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. While Danzie valued her professional commitments, family always remained her highest priority. She was a dedicated employee at Entergy and formed meaningful connections with colleagues, parishioners, and relatives alike. Danzie and Glen shared a partnership spanning sixty-three years. She was the love of Glen’s life.
Danzie was deeply devoted to her family, and her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy is carried forward by her grandchildren: Sara Cheyenne Anderson (Grant) and Falon Ray Brumfield (Lane). She took immense pride in becoming a great-grandmother and adored each of her great-grandchildren—Boyd and Georgia Rae Anderson and Adeline and Lainey Brumfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents, L. Ray and Lillian Blackwell, her brother, Leslie Richard, and her sister, Virginia White. Danzie is survived by her devoted husband Glen, her children Mark Ray (Michelle) and Paula Ray (Kathy), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A service honoring Danzie’s life will take place at Chancellor Funeral Home on December 3, 2025. Visitation is scheduled from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, immediately followed by the service. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a woman who brought warmth, love, and light to all who knew her.
