Dr. Clyde James Lewis, Jr

Dr. Clyde James Lewis, Jr., lovingly known as CJ or Doc, 82, of Terry, MS, took his final breath on January 24, 2023 as he went peacefully home to Heaven surrounded by his devoted wife, Laura Lewis, and his closest loved ones.

Doc was a valued member of his community. He was most known for his dedicated work in the OBGYN field as a skilled Physician for forty-five plus years in the metro Jackson area. He was a respected partner at the Clinic for Women of Central Mississippi during this time.  If you were lucky enough to be one of his patients, you were also an extended part of his family as no one left his office without feeling loved and genuinely cared for. Doc was also known for his extravagant story-telling abilities as he could sit for hours telling stories of his experiences, his family, and bringing laughs with his witty jokes. In his final days, he was still telling stories and sharing laughs with one of his grandsons who he visited with each afternoon.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and his firstborn son.  He is survived by his wife of 25 years, along with 2 daughters, 3 sons, their spouses, 14 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

The family will host a small ceremony on Friday, January 27^th at 1:00pm at Chancellor Funeral Home located in Byram, followed with a graveside processional to Lakewood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to a memorial fund that has been set up in CJ’s name at UMMC “The MIND Center”. The fund is listed as Dr. C. James Lewis, Jr. “Doc.” We pray this gift will bless others as we honor CJ’s legacy.
