Charles Henry Hillman of Florence, MS passed away October 8, 2025. He was born August 1, 1939, in Philadelphia MS, the only son of George H. and Beadie Rae Hillman.
Affectionately called brother and uncle Charlie, he lived his early years in Philadelphia before moving to Jackson, MS with his family at the age of 16. After graduating from Jackson Central High School, he spent the next 40 years as a butcher with Jitney Jungle and other meat markets. Upon leaving the meat markets, he worked security for the State of Mississippi and the City of Jackson. His favorite pastimes were visiting with coffee buddies, watching old western shows, and gospel music. A devoted Methodist, he rarely missed church services from an early age until the past year due to failing health. Warm hearted and generous, he was always there lending a helping hand to those in need without passing judgement. He was a life member of the Order of Moose.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hillman; sister, Shirley Pinter; nephews, Barry Langham and Jeff Pinter; and great nephew Christopher Pinter. Survivors include sister, Becky Langham (Buddy Sr.); nephews, Buddy Langham, Jr. (Diane), Mike Pinter (Debbie), Danny Pinter (Linda) and Scott Pinter (Nora). He also leaves several great nephews and great great nieces and nephews. His nephew Buddy Jr. was consistently by his side caring for him with love and devotion. The family is deeply appreciative of Dr. LeDuff’s care provided for many years.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS with graveside service at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS.
