Charles Ray Hester, Sr.

Charles Ray Hester Sr. passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at his home in Florence, MS.  He was 75 years old. There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in the Garden of Memories in Florence, MS.

Charles was born on June 20, 1948, to Charles William Hester and Martha Dean Chandler Hester in Walker County, AL. He was raised in Walker County but has lived in the Florence community for the past 43 years. Charles loved fishing and then frying them up. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and going to flea markets shopping for cast iron antiques. He loved his family and spending time with them and was very proud of his truck driving career. Charles was a good honest man who will truly be missed.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Earl Hester, and Carvin Hester; sisters, June Hester, and Lena Mae Cole; and granddaughter, Angel Marie. He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Marianne Tackett of Florence; sons, Donald Ray Hester (Tonya) of Pearl, Steven Wayne Hester of Pearl, Phillip Hester (Penny) of Florence, and Charles Ray Hester Jr. (Amy) Bessimer, AL; brothers, Sam Hester (Debbie) of Hanceville, AL, Jim Hester (Kelly) of St. Augustine, FL; sister, Bobbie Prestley of Dora, AL; 9 grandchildren; and a slew of great grandchildren.
