Carolyn Ann Stovall, born on October 12, 1935, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Travis Griffis and Martha Johnston Griffis. She passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in Terry, Mississippi. Her life was marked by a strong commitment to family, community, and the beauty of nature. Carolyn dedicated 29 years as the Office Manager for Marshall Elementary School, where her diligent work and warm spirit left a lasting impact on students, staff, and families alike.
A passionate gardener, Carolyn loved working in the rich soil of nature, nurturing the plants that flourished under her care. Her affinity for God’s creations was evident in everything she touched, and she understood the profound peace that nature could provide.
Carolyn was a devoted wife and nurturing mother. She is survived by her children: Martha (Ronnie) Russell, Toby (Nahna) Stovall, and Steve (Laurie) Stovall. Carolyn found immense joy and fulfillment in her role as a grandmother. Time spent with her grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness; she cherished every moment and considered it the highlight of her day. Her grandchildren include Carrie (Joel) Thames, Lauren (Peter) Sharpe, Danna (Tim) Fisackerly, Hannah (Trent) Warren, Stuart Stovall, and Brad Stovall.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Bill" R. Stovall, they shared 62 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, kindness, and cherished traditions.
A graveside service honoring Carolyn will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 2 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Mississippi. She will be remembered not only for her professional contributions but for the love and joy she brought to her family and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
