Carolyn Cooper Starnes, born on April 4, 1941, in Dumas, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, in Brandon, Mississippi. Her life, spanning eighty-five years, was marked by warmth, creativity, and devotion to the people and passions she held dear.

Carolyn’s roots were firmly planted in a loving family. She was the daughter of James L. Cooper and Evelyn Lucille Fay. She grew up cherishing the simple joys of family—a value that remained the cornerstone of her character throughout her life. Her love for her family only deepened with time, shaping every chapter of her life.

Carolyn’s talents were many and varied, but among those fortunate enough to know her, she was perhaps best known as an excellent decorator. She possessed an extraordinary eye for beauty and detail, bringing charm and grace to every space she touched.

Her creativity also found expression through her love of photography. Carolyn could often be found behind a camera, capturing both momentous occasions and everyday moments. She was always eager to preserve the memories she shared with her loved ones and friends. Her dedication to organizing these photographs was legendary. Her lifelong habit of arranging her photo collections with the precision and reverence of a true librarian created a beautifully preserved legacy for generations to cherish.

Carolyn loved her family unconditionally. She found joy in their laughter and wonder, always encouraging their curiosity and offering guidance with patience and kindness.

Carolyn’s journey was not without loss. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wheeler Edward “Ed” Starnes; her father, James L. Cooper; her mother, Evelyn Lucille Fay; and her sons-in-law, Herman Sebren and George Floyd. Their passing was deeply felt, yet Carolyn’s unwavering strength, compassion, and resilient spirit continued to shine, offering comfort and support to those around her.

Although several of her loved ones went before her, Carolyn’s influence remains present in the lives of everyone who was touched by her kindness and unwavering love. Her meticulous organization of family memories stands as a testament to her care, ensuring that the stories, smiles, and milestones of those she loved will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her three daughters, Melanie Starnes (Bubba) of Hazlehurst, Pam Sebren of Brandon, and Cindy Floyd (Danny) of Harrisville; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

Family, friends, and all who knew Carolyn are invited to honor her remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, located at 2576 US 49, Florence, Mississippi. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Glenwood Memorial Park, located at 840 Old Highway 49 South in Richland, Mississippi, immediately following the service.
