Carolyn Virginia Patrick, 86, greeted our Lord in heaven on October 26, 2024. She was born at home on April 28, 1938, in Louisville, MS, to the late Clarence Black and Ethel Dempsey Black. She retired from Hudspeth Regional Center, serving others through mental health services. She was a faithful member of Briar Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, attended Young at Heart Bible Study, WMU, and Hope Class Sunday school, and served on the Mission Committee in the Magic Club. She was also an ABWA and MS Track Club volunteer. She loved cooking and would often bless her friends and family with her delicious meals. She was fond of yard work and her birds.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Black and Ethel Dempsey Black; her sisters, Bettye Hill, Alice McKay, and Linda Jones; her brother, Charles Black; her daughters-in-law, Cindy Tew and Deana Tew; and her grandson, Justin DePoyster. She is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Ron Patrick, Sr.; her sisters, Joyce Jones (Ralph) of Brandon, MS, and Claudia Jones (Marshall) of Brandon, MS; her children, Kenneth Tew (DuAnn) of Vicksburg, MS, Herman “Wayne” Tew of Mendenhall, MS, Allan Tew (Teresa) of Pearl, MS, Melinda DePoyster (Ken) of Pearl, MS, Gina Tew (Scott McKay) of Brandon, MS, Ron Patrick, Jr. (Lori) of Carlisle, PA, and Reggie Patrick of Pearl, MS; and her fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Ms. Virginia’s visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. A second visitation will take place at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence, MS on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow.
