Caroline Kimbrough
Combs
May 4, 1981 – May 28, 2026
Caroline Kimbrough Combs, age 45, of Florence, MS passed away on May 28, 2026, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend to many.
Caroline was born in Flowood, MS to Randy and Ruth Kimbrough. She spent her childhood years in Clio, AL and Mount Olive, MS. She was a 2003 graduate of Belhaven University where she studied art and made many lifelong friends. Prior to her illness, she worked as a graphic designer at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Caroline was a founding member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA), helping establish the first intentionally multiethnic PCA church in Jackson. She gave generously of her time, investing countless hours in the children of her church and neighborhood through service in the nursery, tutoring, and Sunday school ministries. It was at Redeemer that she met her husband, Tu Combs, whom she married in 2018.
Those who were close to Caroline knew her as a lover of books with a rich imagination formed by classic novels and children’s literature. Her friends appreciated her wide-eyed wonder at the glory of God in creation, her eye for seeing beauty in ordinary things, and her capacity for drawing others to cherish that beauty with her. She was a longtime resident and champion of Jackson’s Belhaven neighborhood and a devoted supporter of the Jackson Farmers Market.
The last decade of Caroline’s life was marked by tremendous courage, resilient trust in God, and sacrificial love. After the death of her first child, Caroline became a volunteer with Abel Speaks, a ministry to parents of children with a life-limiting diagnosis. She continued to look for ways to minister to others even as she battled her own debilitating illness.
Caroline was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Helen Combs, who lived for 26 days. She is survived by her husband, Lemuel Austin "Tu" Combs II; their 2-year-old son, Calvin Lemuel Combs; stepdaughters Ella Combs and Kameron Morrison; her parents, Ruth and Randy Kimbrough of Florence, MS; a brother, Wendell Scott Kimbrough of Holland, MI, his wife, Hahna, and nieces Isabel and Rebecca Gwynn Kimbrough.
A visitation with open casket will be held from 5:00-8:00PM on Friday June 5, 2026, at Chancellor Funeral Home, 2576 US Hwy 49, Florence, MS.
Her funeral will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 640 E Northside Dr, Jackson, MS 39206, with visitation beginning at 1:00PM. A graveside burial service will immediately follow.
