Carmen I. Andrews

On Monday August 18, 2025, Carmen Ilene Andrews a loving wife, mother and grandmother went into the arms of Jesus. Carmen was born on January 8, 1928, in Rankin County MS to Steve Allen and Gerda Herlitz Smith.

Carmen married Charles W. Dougherty and they raised 11 children: Zita, Oscar, Julie, Benny, Karl, Ray, Frances, Lita, Tina, Penny and Rusty

Carmen is survived by: Zita, Julie (Mack), Benny (Jewel), Ray (Gale), Frances, Lita (Gary), Penny (Douglas) Her grandchildren: Theresa (Leland), Davina (Wayne), Tania (Jeff), Chuck (Shari), Steve, Neal (Jennifer), Joe (Tami), Mike (Christine), Paula (John), Jay (Tami), Chad (Kimberly), Karla ( Timothy) , Kevin (Lori), Christy (Randy), Joe Calhoun ( Kristi), Wayne, Shelly (Dusty), Adam (Frances), Jason (Mary), Christopher, Danielle (Steven) Thomas, 50 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother Gerda Herlitz Smith and father Steve Allen; sister Juanita (Noot), brothers Steve Jr and Joy Smith, children; Tina Teresa Dougherty, Karl Dougherty, Rusty Dougherty and Oscar Dougherty. Granddaughter Carma Jo Dougherty

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday August 23, 2025, at 11am at Chancellor Funeral Home 7225 S. Siwell Road Byram MS 39272 family view at 10:00am, visitation 11 until the hour of service. Graveside service will follow at New Zion Baptist Cemetery 275 Andrews Road Braxton, MS 39044.

Pallbearers will be Neal Dougherty, Chuck Dougherty, Jay Dougherty, Adam Edwards, Joe Richardson, Chris Eichwurtzle, Joe Calhoun, Leland Haggard and Wayne Muirhead.
