Obituary

Brian Craig Hinton, born March 19th, 1961, in Orlando, Florida, was delivered from his mortal afflictions to be called on high to a resounding and magnificent host of glorified angels Thursday afternoon June 18th, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi, with warm embrace to the paradise of heaven’s grandeur. “Papa Bear” as he was lovingly called, departed from his earthly body to his eternal one granted by his lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his spirit finally entered the presence of the Almighty God while affectionately surrounded by his friends and family by his side.

Brian earned and wore many titles throughout his long-lasting tenures of employment but the titles he cherished most were Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Brian, upon his departure to glory, was a loving brother to his older sibling Steve Hinton, and his little sister Donnia Hinton (Olesko). Although living in Mississippi, Brian maintained close connections with his out-of-state family including nephew Steve Hinton and numerous cousins including Barbera Hinton (Gomez). He also fostered kinship with his beloved brothers-in-law Stan Howard, Bart Howard, and Brad Howard, along with sisters-in-law Elizabeth Howard (Pepper) and Pam Whitehead (Howard). Additionally, he held high regard and lasting friendships with many including Billy Warren of Union Grove Alabama, Richard Lewis of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Jimmy Errington of Crystal Springs, Mississippi.

As a devoted husband, Brian was married to his bride of almost 42 years-Machelle (Howard) Hinton and was father to his only child - a son, Brett along with his beloved daughter-in-law Jessica Ainsworth (Hinton) of Florence Mississippi. His three grandchildren: Camden, Caden, and Carlynn were his greatest prides of life, fulfilling a family vision he had dreamed of that he cherished and valued until the last breath of his mortal being before his spirit ascended to be with the Lord of Lords.

Beginning life from wealth to rags, Brian was born to Don and Margaret Hinton of Orlando Florida but due to family circumstances beyond his control, grew up in a state of chaos and immense adversity. Despite the climate of calamity, he relied on himself and grew up learning to not make excuses and to push through the difficult trials of life. At one point in his youth, he was tenderly raised by his grandfather and grandmother whom he loved deeply. His grandfather, a distinguished WW2 and Korean War veteran who survived Pearl Harbor, was an example to Brian on how to persevere through life’s struggles. His grandfather, who faced similar childhood difficulties, took Brian under his wing, molding him into the great man he would one day become. Brian, out of reverence and love, would later tenderly care and visit his grandmother (Nana) until her passing.

Working in his school cafeteria to afford school lunches as a child, to work all other kinds of odd jobs in his youth, Brian always managed to best the bad hand he was dealt overcoming obstacles with overwhelming and ferocious determination to beat the odds stacked against him. Through sheer grit and a drive to succeed, Brian started at one job at the very bottom position and worked his way up to senior management-cementing a foundational resume that would continue to build and solidify an exemplary skillset for the rest of his career. He held several noteworthy management and leadership occupations in his life but those he was immensely proud of the most were holding a zoning and planning committee member position for the city of Byram, Mississippi and his final role as a customer service representative for Double G Coatings of Byram.

While working at one of his first jobs as a young man, Brian was recognized for his leadership abilities by his lifelong mentor Mr. Jim Freemon. In the early 1980’s, Brian was transferred from his store in Florida to a new retail location near New Orleans to further hone his leadership skills. In this phase of life, Brian’s love of rock and roll blossomed with the introduction of MTV, hair metal, rock, and legends of the 70’s migrating to the era of the early-to-mid 1980’s. When he wasn’t forging his phenomenal work reputation, Brian enjoyed meeting and interacting with members of the local New Orleans band Zebra during this time as well as going to various concerts across the south-a passion he continued to later enjoy.

Upon another transfer from New Orleans to Jackson, Mississippi to manage his own store, Brian sent one of his friends at a local outing to help introduce himself to a beautiful woman, Machelle Howard of Jackson. The two began dating and eventually married on July 29th,1984. The two enjoyed a period of togetherness and growth then welcomed a son, Brett, on August 23, 1990. His core family was inseparable and although Brian always worked long hours and was passionate about being a provider, he consistently ensured that the bills were paid, and the family unit was maintained and always together.

Throughout the course of his life, Brian immensely enjoyed many hobbies such as playing tennis, golf, going to concerts, travelling, and a great fondness for animals. Although blessed with a stocky physique, he dominated others on the tennis court earning high praise from those he played. As a man of his time, he loved rock music and over the course of several decades, he saw bands like The Eagles, Journey, Foreigner, Van Halen, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest with his wife, son, family, and friends. Among his favorite vacation destinations was his honeymoon location-Navarre Beach, Florida along with numerous restful spots including his 40-year anniversary trip to Hawaii and his most recent trip in April to Turks and Caicos with his forever bride. While away on vacation, he always missed and cared for his household cats that always had a tender spot for.

In his absence there will forever be an empty void in the hearts of all who loved Brian and the remaining days on earth for those he leaves behind will be empty without his laughter and larger-than-life persona. His chief loves of life were The Lord, his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and his grandchildren whom he loved with great passion. Brian Hinton, a common sojourner on The Almighty’s created planet, made a lasting impact on his close circle of family and friends. His presence will be missed until we all meet again in the gold-lined streets of eternal glory with the Savior of the world Jesus Christ.
