Obituary

Bobby Clarence Nicholson, also known as Bob, passed away peacefully at his home in Richland, MS, on February 18, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on March 13, 1946, in Providence, Rhode Island, Bobby led a life filled with devotion to his family, his country, and his hobbies.

Bob dedicated a significant portion of his life to military service, having retired after 22 years as a Senior Chief in the United States Navy. He served at various duty stations including Guam, San Deigo, CA, Norfolk VA, Charleston, SC and Pensacola, FL. Also, he served multiple years at sea, most notably, tours of the USS Enterprise and the USS Preble. His commitment to service extended beyond the battlefield as he effectively managed various galleys, ensuring that many of the sailors enjoyed nourishing meals. While serving his country, Bobby was handpicked to play on the Navy’s golf team, competing against the other top Armed Forces players around the world.

In addition to his military accomplishments, Bob was a man of many interests that brought joy to those around him. In addition to golf, he enjoyed boating and fishing. Known for his culinary skills, he loved cooking for family and friends, sharing both delicious meals and warm moments with those he cherished.

Through the health challenges Bob experienced later in life, God used this time to draw Bob closer to the Himself. Often Bob enjoyed hearing the scriptures read with his family. Upon hearing the good news of the gospel, Bob put his trust and faith fully on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, Ann Nicholson, who stood by his side through countless life events. Bob was a proud father to his son, Robert Thomas Nicholson, and daughters, Lesa Renee Nicholson and Rose Ann Nicholson. He found immense joy in his grandchildren—Sean Michael Monaghan, Kyle Patrick Monaghan, Justin Anthony Castricone, Jason Michael Castricone, Kenneth Edward Booth, Jeffrey Thomas Booth, Ashley Taylor Spies, Irina Faith Nicholson, Emma Grace Nicholson, and Robert Thomas Nicholson II—and relished every precious moment spent with them. In addition, he leaves behind several great-grandchildren, who were a source of delight and pride.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Ann Nicholson, as well as his sister, Dale Ann Nicholson, and brother, William Richard Nicholson. He also misses numerous aunts and uncles whose lives intertwined with his love and laughter.

As we remember Bob, we celebrate a life richly woven with love, service, and community. His warmth, dedication, and vibrant spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
