Bessie L. Robinson

Bessie L. Robinson, lovingly known as "Bess," passed away on May 13, 2025, in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on July 10, 1927, in Puckett, Mississippi, to Charlie Lewis and Ella Butler Lewis. Bess enriched the lives of those around her during her remarkable 97 years. She dedicated a significant part of her life as a Telephone Operator for Bell South, where she developed lasting connections through her work.

Having lived in Byram for over thirty years, Bess established a warm home filled with love and laughter. She had a passion for gardening, which brought her peace and satisfaction. In addition to her green thumb, Bessie loved to watch basketball and enjoyed cooking, sharing her cooking with family and friends.

Bess was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, where she found community and support throughout her life. Her faith was an integral part of her identity and shaped her interactions with the world around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, Charles Robinson, her daughters, Tiny Carolyn Downs and Barbara Ann Frazer, her grandson, Talbert "Jimmy" Frazer III, her great grandson, Camden Frazer, her brother, L.A. Lewis, and four sisters, Sadie Andrews, Collie Justice, Zella Grubbs, and Mittie Nix.

Bess adored her family deeply, finding immense joy in her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her cherished grandson, Timmy Frazer and his wife, Vivian; her beloved granddaughter, Karen Fulbright; a granddaughter, Sheri Jackson, and a brother Junior Lewis. She also leaves behind a large family, including ten great grandchildren, twenty great, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.

Bessie L. Robinson will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family will remain in the hearts of her loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
