Bernice Victoria Peoples, 95, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at her home in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood South Memorial Park. Due to the current pandemic, facemasks are required. The funeral home encourages everyone to practice social distancing and will allow 10 people at a time in the building during the visitation. A resident of Jackson since 1962, Mrs. Peoples was born to Henry Freeny and Gussie Ellis Freeny on June 06, 1925 in Carthage, MS. She began her career as a switchboard operator, first with GE and then St. Dominic’s before becoming a business owner with Peoples Feed and Seed and Peoples Grocery. She also owned and operated P&W Mini Storage. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.D. Peoples and son, Marcus Peoples. She is survived by her grandsons, Chris (Stacy) Peoples of Brandon and Robbie (Dana) Peoples of Pearl; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
