Ansel B. Pierce

Ansel B. Pierce, 85, of Star, MS passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The graveside service will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Star Cemetery in Star, MS.

Ansel was born January 14, 1938, in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late Wallace K. and Lora E. Petty Pierce. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pansey E. Pierce.

Ansel retired from Armstrong World Industries in Jackson and formerly worked for Austin Powder Company in McArthur, Ohio.

Ansel is survived by his sons, Barrett Pierce (Deborah) of Florence, Bruce Pierce of Star; daughter, Pamela Pierce of Brookhaven; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Vernon Dale of Canal Winchester, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace, Hiram, Gordon Robert, Holbert, and Roy Pierce and a sister, Mona French.

He was a member of Star Baptist Church. He enjoyed growing a garden, working with honeybees, fishing, and hunting.
