Sandra Ann Kuhn, a beloved community figure, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Byram, Mississippi, at the age of 84. She was born on November 17, 1940, in Magnolia, Mississippi, to Emmett O'Quinn and Ethel Lewis O'Quinn. Ann's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, profound love for her family, and a lifelong commitment to nurturing young minds.
As a young girl growing up in Magnolia, MS, Ann helped her parents with farming. She was a school bus driver as a teenager.She graduated in 1958 from Magnolia High School and then attended Southwest Junior College and finished her education at University of Southern Mississippi in 1962. She began an accomplished career in photojournalism with many publications to her credit. She was a frequent contributor of articles and photographs for Texas Game and Fish. She ran a printing press for several printing and publishing companies. Ann excelled in everything she put her hands and mind to.
Ann met Robert Kuhn and they married on July 16, 1976. soon after she moved to the Byram area. She was able to stay at home with her sons while they were young but soon returned to the workforce. She then found her true passion the following 35 years where she dedicated herself to the children she cared for as a daycare director. It was not merely a job for her but a calling that she embraced with a loving heart. She literally raised an entire community over generations. Ann often expressed how blessed she felt to work with children, believing wholeheartedly that the true measure of life was the difference made in the lives of the young ones entrusted to her care. Her impact on countless families will surely be remembered with gratitude and fondness.
Ann was not only a nurturing figure in her professional life but also in her personal life, where she cherished her family deeply. She was very proud of her two boys, Brian and Paul. Her heart was always full of love for her grandchildren and enjoyed every moment she spent with them.
She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Michelle) Kuhn and Paul (Shannon) Kuhn, who carry on her legacy of love and kindness. She also leaves behind, 6 grandchildren, Andrew, Cooper, Ann Marie, and Rosalie Rae Kuhn, Gage and Rivers Henderson who brought immense happiness to her life. She was greatly anticipating the arrival of her first great grandson, Maddox Henderson in October.
A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Byram, Ann volunteered her time teaching Sunday School, where she shared her love for the Lord and her belief in the importance of faith and community. Her gratitude for her salvation was evident, and she made it a point to share her joyful testimony with all those she encountered.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 36 years, Robert M. Kuhn, and her siblings, Aaron O'Quinn, Everett O'Quinn, Dorothy O'Quinn Ford, and Jamie O'Quinn. Though they have departed from this earthly realm, Ann's spirit and the love she imparted to all who knew her will continue to resonate through the memories and lives she touched.
As we remember Ann Kuhn today, we celebrate her unwavering devotion to her faith, her family, and the children she so lovingly cared for throughout her lifetime. Her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and served.
Her services will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, with a Visitation from 12-2 pm and the Funeral service starting at 2pm, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. There will be a Graveside at East Union Church Cemetery in Magnolia, MS following the service.
