Addie L. Wright, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at her home at the age of 88. She was born on April 29, 1937, to parents, Homer Holifield and Inez Murray Holifield of Laurel, Mississippi. She graduated high school in Monroe, Louisiana and moved to Mississippi where she continued her education by attending Hinds Junior College and Belhaven.
Over the years of her adult life, Addie held many positions in the work field and a few of those consisted of, Secretary to Mayor Dale Danks. She was the first female registered lobbyist for the State Employees, Secretary for State Medical Association, Office Manager for Beyond Therapy and most recent, Owner and Editor of The Hinds County News. Addie also had established the Richland and Florence newspapers as well as The Terry News. She ultimately sold the Richland and Florence newspapers and combined The Terry News with The Hinds County Newspaper which is continuing to be operated by her daughter, Renay Wright.
Addie was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Joseph Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Renay Wright, sisters, Dot Kitchens (Mac), Helen Abercrombie, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
