Rev. Miller Lee Ferrell

M. Lee Ferrell, 93 years of age, went home to the welcome arms of his Lord and Savior on November 11, 2020. Lee resided at The Orchard in Ridgeland, MS with his wife Naomi. Lee graduated from E.E. Bass High School in Greenville, MS and subsequently joined the US Navy. After his WW II Naval service, he attended and graduated from Mississippi College. He attended and received his Masters degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Lee served in several roles in Christian Ministry. He worked with the YMCA and served as a house parent at The Baptist Children’s Village in Clinton, MS. He served as the State Secretary of the Royal Ambassadors in Alabama and Mississippi. He was the Education Director and Associate Pastor of Capital Heights Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. He was a board member of the Mississippi Baptist Convention. He also ministered at Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson, MS as the Youth Director and Associate Pastor. Later in his career, he became the pastor of Webb Baptist Church in Webb. MS. He also served as pastor of Brazil Church. Lee touched so many people in his ministry and personal life. He truly never met a stranger. He was quick witted and always had a great story that related to whatever situation or problem that you presented to him. He displayed unconditional love for his family and his congregations. He loved the game of golf. He was very competitive. He was close to a scratch golfer for many years and as he grew older, he routinely scored below his age on 18 holes. He rarely lost a match and took special pleasure in beating people much younger than him. Lee was the club champion at Bayou Bend Country Club for many years. Lee and his first wife, Eleanor Ann East Ferrell, were married from 1949-89. Ann passed away, unexpectedly at 62 years of age. Lee and Ann had four children – Susan, Stephen, Greg, and David. Lee and Naomi Payne McCraney Ferrell were married at Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. Naomi has four daughters – Naomi, Theresa, Gean Claire and Kathleen. Lee (Papa) loved his entire family and played an integral part in the lives of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lee is survived by his wife, Naomi Ferrell. He is also survived by Susan Martin (Steve), Greg Ferrell, David Ferrell (Lucy), Naomi Phillips (Byron), Theresa Aikins (Nolan), Gean Claire Belknap (Amos) and Kathleen Foshee (Jim). His surviving 11 grandchildren includes Stephanie Stone, Bethanie Omiecinski, Emily Ferrell, Mary Ferrell, Hunter Aikens, Judson Aikens, Taryn Ward, Victoria Hayden, Dr. Samuel Belknap, Alexis Thompson and Aileen Phillips. Lee and Naomi were also blessed with 13 great grandchildren. Lee was predeceased by Eleanor Ann East Ferrell (wife), W.C. Ferrell (father), Lessie Hasel Ferrell (mother), W.C. “Dub” Ferrell (brother), William Ferrell (brother), Catherine Russell (sister), Stephen Ferrell (son) and Austin Phillips (grandson). A private family Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS at 2 pm on November 14, 2020. The service will be live-streamed from the Chancellor Funeral Home Facebook page. Rev. Sid Johnson and Chancellor Funeral Home are in charge of the services. Honorary Pallbearers include Dr. Byron Phillips, Nolan Aikens, Dr, Amos Belknap, Jim Foshee, Steve Martin, Hunter Aikens, Dr, Samuel Belknap, Judson Aikens, Mark Thompson, Justin Hayden and Jared Stone.
