Mrs. Mildred Jones Dempsey

Mildred “Millie” L. Jones Dempsey, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021 with her family by her side in Valencia, California. A graveside service will be held Saturday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Mississippi. Arrangements are with Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. She was born August, 19, 1931 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi to William M “Bill” and Annie Mae (Campbell) Jones. Millie spent her childhood singing in her church choir and learning to playing the piano. She also loved to ride horses with her brothers and would often seek out adventures as they traveled the horse trails near their home. She earned an Associates Degree in Hotel Management from Santa Barbara City College in 1981 and worked for both IBM in New York and the Department of Mines and Minerals at Kentucky State University. Millie was confirmed into the Eastern Orthodox faith while being a member of the St. Seraphim Easter Orthodox Church in Dallas Texas. Millie spent most of her life looking for adventures and was always apt to share a story about her endeavors. She was fortunate to acquire many memories and experiences as she traveled and resided in various locations across the United States. Ms. Dempsey is survived by her son, Cecil Roberts and his spouse, Grace; four grandchildren and their spouses, Keri Wright (Philip), Christopher Sides (Codye), James Roberts (Jennifer) and Tiffany Slater (Mark); and 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, William M “Bill” Jones, Annie Mae (Campbell) Jones; her three brothers Billy B Jones; Cecil Edwards Jones and James L “Babe” Jones; her daughter, Brenda Roberts and her grandson Cecil Peter Roberts.
