Mrs. Mary Evelyn Armstrong

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Armstrong, 78, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 16th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Richland City Cemetery in Richland. Mrs. Armstrong was born September 18, 1941 in Oak Grove, LA to the late Robert and Eleanor Downs. She has lived in Richland since 1968, moving from Jackson. She has been a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1964. Mary worked for Travelers Insurance, she also ran the concession stand for the City of Richland Ballparks for over 20 years. Along with her parents, Mrs. Armstrong is also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Jerry Armstrong. She is survived by her children, Ricky (Wanda) Armstrong of Florence and Scott (Rhonda) Armstrong of Richland; grandchildren, Samantha (John) Bishop, Jerry (Amber) Armstrong, Marc (Michaella) Armstrong, Corey (Brittney) Armstrong, Makayla Armstrong, and Scotti Armstrong; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Russell of Crystal Springs; and brothers, Robert F. Downes, Jr of Pensacola, FL and Millard Downs of Richland.
