Mrs. Martha Burnette Hogan of Florence passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Castlewoods Place in Brandon, she was four days shy of 90 years old. The family will receive friends Monday, June 15th from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery. Mrs. Hogan was born June 14, 1930 to Guy and Josephine Burnette in Cedartown, GA. She moved to Florence in 1959 from Vicksburg. She attended Star Baptist Church. After working many years in various retail outlets, she eventually retired from McRae’s. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler. She participated leagues as well as in many state tournaments and traveled often to compete. Along with her parents, Mrs. Hogan was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hogan and 2 sisters, Gloria Wright and Ruth Miller. She is survived by her children, Dianne (Wardell) Holmes of Crystal Springs, Guy (Denise) Hogan of Clinton, Karen Adams of Florence, and Angela Jackson of Ridgeland; sisters, Gwyndolyn Forrister of Bremen, GA and Billie Gossett of St. Mary’s, GA; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
