Mrs. Kathryn Kidd Ifkovits

April 29, 1932 — March 21, 2020

Kathryn (Kitty) Jackson Gant Ifkovits 87 years old, of Tucson AZ went to be with her Lord peacefully, and quietly. on Saturday, March 21, 2020. She was born in Sturgis Mississippi and spent her high school years in Jackson, MS. After her marriage to William Ifkovits in 1952 she moved first to Savanah, after which she spent the next 60 years in or around Chicago. They then moved to Tucson to live with her son Ken. In her life she was always optimistic and always looked for the good in a person. She was much loved by her children and grandchildren, as well as the many friends she collected through her long life. She always gave people the benefit of the doubt and was very accepting of her children’s friends as well. You never knew who would be sitting down at the supper table when we were kids, but if ever there was an example of southern hospitality, she embodied it. She loved to travel, but her two main hobbies in her life, were reading and “Bears” football. Soldiers Field will be a little quieter now that she is gone. Eventually she moved to an assisted living facility, in 2018, Lisa’s Loft. where she was treated as though she was a member of the family by Lisa, her husband, Tony and their son Mark. While there she received many cards and letters from friends and family which she thoroughly enjoyed reading. She was preceded in death by her parents, K.M. and Georgia Jackson, Her first husband, Sonny Gant, Her husband of 63 years, William (Iff) Ifkovits, her brother James M. Jackson, and her son Nicholas Ifkovits (Debra.) She is survived by three of her children, Melinda Marie Ifkovits, Lisa Ann Stanton (Daniel) and Ken Gant Ifkovits. She also has two grandsons; Dan Stanton Jr. (Helen) and Bill Stanton (Kerry.) The graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday May 9th (Mothers Day.) The location is the Garden of Memories at Chancellor Funeral Home located in Florence Mississippi. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the children’s programs at Sahuaro Baptist Church, 10361 E. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85748.
