Mrs. Joyce Irene Taylor

December 10, 1946 — March 22, 2018

Joyce Irene Singleton Taylor, 71, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Visitation will be 2-5pm Sunday, March 25, 2018 and 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Monday, March 26, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Terry Cemetery. Joyce was born in 1946 in Jackson, MS. She was the middle child of Mable and J.R. Singleton. Joyce graduated from Byram High School in 1964, where she was Captain of the Cheerleading Team. Following her graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Burnette Taylor, Jr. on July 31, 1965, of which, she has been married to for 53 years. Joyce later had one daughter, Christie Taylor Robbins. As a member of Byram Baptist Church, she spent her early years teaching children’s Sunday School. As Joyce grew in God’s love she also learned to deeply love others. Joyce soon would be blessed with a job that became one of her greatest accomplishments and joys. A group called “Physicians Anesthesia Group” of which Joyce has worked for 46 years. Oh, the bosses, co-workers, acquaintances, and friends she would make. Joyce’s second family. She loved them and they loved her right back! In Matthew 23:11-12 and throughout the Bible it talks about a servant’s heart. Joyce had this servant’s heart. What made her the happiest in life was what she could do for others. She took care of her family and was so proud to be the #1 Grammy. Joyce was a woman of great character. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and one older sister. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Burney; daughter Christie Robbins, son-in-law Donnie and 2 grandchildren, Grace and Graham. She is survived by her younger sister Jackie McGuffee and brother-in-law David McGuffee of Terry, MS and a number of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. “The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Matthew 12: 11-12
