Mrs. Joy Channell

From sewing beautiful clothes to creating crafty home decor, Joy Pullen Channell, of Brandon, Miss., spent most of her life as a homemaker. Joy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at 93 years of age. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Miss. on Sunday, December 22 at 3 p.m. An additional visitation will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 23 at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson, Miss. with a funeral service, officiated by Dr. Eric Pratt, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Covenant Baptist Church Cemetery in French Camp, Miss. at 3 p.m. Pallbearers will be Robby Channell, Brian Adair, Toby Channell, Clay Channell, Josh Channell, Jonathan Channell, Andrew Williams, and Justin Cook. Joy was born in Winona, Miss. on August 13, 1926, and was married 56 years to Fred Allen Channell who preceded her in death in 1998. She is preceded in death by parents Lonnie and Henrietta Pullen and step mother, Vera Pullen, along with her sisters Ila Knott, Maxine Ward, Wardine Wingo, and brother Denton Pullen. She is survived by her sons Jerry (Phyllis), Randy (Bobbie), Danny (Nancy), and daughter, Belinda Gay Channell Williams (Bobby). Her grandchildren are Robby (Vikki), Angie Channell Adair (Brian), Toby (Lea Ann), Clay (Suzie), Josh, Jonathan, Andrew Williams (Felicia), Ginger Williams Cook (Justin), and she had 11 great grandchildren. Joy is also survived by sisters Amy Dale Johnson of Birmingham, Ala., Shirley Henderson of French Camp, and a host of nieces and nephews. While she spent most of her life as a homemaker, at one point Joy owned the French Camp Cafe with the help of her sister, Maxine and step mother, Vera. She also worked part time at School Pictures. She and her sister, Ila, had a wood working business and would sell their items at craft shows around Mississippi. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Daniel Memorial Baptist Church, 3784 Terry Road, Jackson, MS 39212.
