Mr. John Hollis Thornton

John Hollis Thornton, 71, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at MS Care Center of Raleigh, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, February 18th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, February 19th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Cleary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Thornton was a life-long resident of Florence and attended church at Grace Presbyterian Church in Byram. He was a retired Electrician with the IBEW. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time in Arkansas. Mr. Thornton is survived by is wife of 47 years, Sheila Thornton of Florence; son, Matthew Thornton of Florence; daughter, Shannon (Doug) Craft of Florence; grandchildren, Colton, Cortlin, Carson, and Cannon; brother, David Thornton of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Conference Center.
