Mr. John William Smith

Mr. John William Smith, 67, born in Columbus, MS and longtime resident of Florence, MS died Friday, October 30, 2020 surrounded by his family. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran. He retired in 2017 from Kroger after 46 years of service. Mr. Smith had a heart of gold. One of his favorite pastimes was riding the “back roads”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Long Smith and Annell Cooper Smith; father-in-law Van Tucker; and brother-in-law, Dave Alan Tucker. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharion Tucker Smith; two daughters, Marcie Roberts (Jonathan) and Vanessa Smith; one granddaughter, Tahlia Roberts; five siblings: Tommy Smith (Alice), David Wayne Smith, Patricia Smith Andrews (Steve), Jackie Smith, and Jerry Smith (Margaret); mother-in-law, Sylvia Tucker; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family would like to thank Mr. Smith’s Kroger family for all of their love and support as well as a special thanks to his medical team, whose compassionate care did not go unnoticed, especially to Dr. Bobby Wilkerson and Dr. Mark Phillippi.
