Mr. Howard Ezell Edmonson Jr.

Howard Ezel Edmonson, Jr., 88, passed away Tuesday October 17, 2017 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 12:00 noon until the 1:00pm funeral service Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Savannah Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, MS. Interment will follow at Musgrove Cemetery in Enterprise, MS. Howard was born March 10, 1929 in Laurel, MS to Howard Ezell Edmonson, Sr. and Kizzie Sadie Calbert. His arrival was assisted by Midwife Katherine (Aunt Kate) Price. Howard was educated through the Enterprise Elementary School, Philadelphia MS Hopewell Agricultural Vocational High School, Alcorn A&M (now Alcorn University), City University of New York (AA and BA degrees in Public Administration and Central Michigan University MA degree in Public Administration. In 1950 he married Ruth Ponder, the love of his life. To this union was born Edith Edmonson who married Luther Bostic, Jr., they had one son Tyrone who married Sherita Hamilton. To this union was born Breanna, Camille, and Malcolm. During his adult life, Howard was employed by the Department of the Army for thirty three years. Uniform Service Rank: Chief Warrant Officer, Department of the Army Civilian (DAC GS-12) After completing this stint with the military, Howard worked an additional ten years with the New Jersey State Department of Health, Hospital Reimbursement Certificate of Need Division as Analyst: Health Economics Research Specialist. He enjoyed reading and was a faithful member of his church, Springridge UMC in Terry, MS. He loved the Lord with all his heart and loved his wife of 67 years, Ruth. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Sadie Edmonson; daughter, Edith Bostic and three brothers, Rolland, Carl & Cleveland Edmonson. He is survived by his wife Ruth Ponder Edmonson of Byram; brothers, Darious Edmonson (Ruth) of Enterprise, MS and James Edmonson (Barbara K.) of Memphis, TN; four sister-in-laws, Barbara J. Edmonson of Memphis, TN, Joan Edmonson of Stone Mountain, GA, Verta Edmonson of Quitman, MS and Mamie Edmonson of Dekalb, MS; grandson Tyrone Bostic (Sheree); three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
