Col. Glenn Anderson Taylor

Col. Glenn Anderson Taylor, MS Air National Guard Retired, a great Soldier and Fallen Hero, has been released from duty and moved on to his heavenly home on Friday, February 05, 2021. He was 67. Due to the current pandemic, a private family funeral service was held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Interment followed at Lakewood Memorial Park. Col. Taylor was born to James Wylie Taylor and Mildred Anderson Taylor on June 12, 1953 in Houston, TX. He enlisted in the MS Air National Guard in October 1981 with the 172d Tactical Airlift Group (now the 172d Airlift Wing), Jackson, MS as a Metal Processor in the 172d Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. In 1986, he was commissioned as a second Lieutenant and assigned to the 172d Resource Management Squadron as a Cost and Management Analysis Officer. He transferred to Base Supply in 1990 and completed numerous assignments, including Chief of Supply for the 172d Logistics Readiness Squadron. Col. Taylor also served as Commander of the 172d Aircraft Generation Squadron and Wing Controller of the 172d Airlift Wing. In support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM from 2002 to 2003, Col. Taylor served with distinction as Logistics Group Detachment Commander at the European Strategic Intra-Theater Deployment (ESID; 723d Maintenance Squadron), Ramstein Air Base, Germany. In addition, he served as Director of the Logistics Readiness Center, Air National Guard Readiness Center, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. In April 2007, he transferred to the Joint Force Headquarters, MS Air National Guard, as Director of Support. Col. Taylor was a lifelong member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. He loved God, his country, and his family. Col. Taylor is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vicki Taylor; sons, Matt (Sherry) Taylor of Princess Anne, MD and David (Michelle) Taylor of Winter Park, FL; daughter, Stephanie Taylor of Madison, MS; six grandchildren, Andy, Jack, Jude, Bria, Maddox, and Richie; brother, James Taylor, Jr. of Walnut; father-in-law, Gaines David White; sister-in-law, Kay Taylor of Pascagoula; aunt, Mable; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
