Mr. George Wayne Purvis

George Wayne Purvis, 86, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Due to the current pandemic, the family will have a private graveside service at Lakewood South Memorial Park. Mr. Purvis was born to James David Purvis and Johnnie Ella Dozier Purvis on January 17, 1935 in Hinds County, Mississippi where he lived most of his life. George retired from the Jackson Fire Department in 1980 as a Captain. He was a member of the Flag Chapel Baptist Church. In 2002, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Purvis. He is survived by his daughters, Regina (Paul) Hester of Jackson and Janet Loftin of Byram; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. “Here lies a man that loved his children, grandchildren, and dog.”
