Mrs. Evelyn Shaw McGee, 83, passed into the arms of Jesus on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 14th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, May 15th from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mrs. McGee was born December 8, 1935 to Richard W. and Sara Nealie Shaw in Neshoba County, MS. She has lived in the Florence community since 1998 where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and ceramics. For the past 6 ½ years, she has been a cancer survivor. Above everything in her life, Mrs. McGee loved her family passionately. She was a dedicated homemaker, a wife for 52 years and raised 5 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that she loved dearly. Along with her parents, Mrs. McGee is reunited with her husband, Billy McGee; and 5 of her siblings, Delphia Dee Jordan, Anela Winchester, E.H. Shaw, Edward Shaw and William Shaw. She is survived by her children, Billy H. McGee, Jr. (Annelle), Bruce McGee (Vickie), Rickey McGee (Sandra) all of Brandon, MS, John Riley of Winona, MS, and Sheila Mathis (Randy) of Madison, MS; her sisters, Florine Watkins of Braxton, Donnie Thomas of Clinton, and Rachel Mulholland of Neshoba Co., MS; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
