Mrs. Carolyn McLemore Matheny

Carolyn McLemore Matheny, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Monday, May 02, 2022 at the age of 80. A graveside service will be held in the Garden of Memories in Florence, MS on Thursday, May 05, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Matheny was born on April 1942 in Seminary, Mississippi to Alex McLemore and Lula Tisdale McLemore. She married her sweetheart, Ray in 1959 and they moved to Jackson to raise their family. They all attended West Jackson Baptist Church where lifelong friends were made. After moving to Byram, they joined Country Woods Baptist Church. She worked for the federal government, first for the Internal Revenue Service and then for the Department of Housing and Urban Development until her retirement in 2004. She loved to spend time with family, especially her two adorable grandsons and her dear friends who meant so much to her. Along with her parents, Mrs. Matheny was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Ray Matheny; her son, Anthony Matheny; her brothers, Leo McLemore and Thomas McLemore; and her sisters, Ina Scoggins and Shirley Hayman. She is survived by her son, Gregory Alan Matheny and his wife, Carol; her grandsons, Matthew and Justin; her nieces and nephews; cousins; and dear friends.
