Mrs. Carole Gardner McColister

Ms. Carole Gardner McColister passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood. There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, January 29th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Ms. McColister was born March 21, 1949 to the late Walter Prentiss and Ardis Gardner in McComb, MS. She was raised in Magnolia, MS and graduated class of 1967 at South Pike High School. Following high school, she attended University of Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. She was Baptist by faith and retired from Entergy as a Call Center Representative. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, also her friends and co-workers. She was a people person who enjoyed dining out with her friends and playing board games. She cherished her faithful cat, Mr. Clause. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her step mother Maudie Gardner; brother-in-law, Donnie Powell. She is survived by her daughter, Joy (Richie) Allen of Florence, MS; step daughter, Rose Hailey of Pinnellas Park, FL; step son, Melvin McClositer, Jr. of St. Petersburg. FL; grandchildren, Michelle McColister, Kayla Allen, Kyle Allen, Regina McColister and Zoe McColister; sisters, Debbie (Craig) Jefcoat of Bay Springs, MS and Ann Powell of Brandon, MS; and nieces and nephews, Jason, Josh, Kristi, Karen, Lauren, Jennifer, and Adrienne.
