Mrs. Carlena Crain Rice

October 4, 1935 — August 20, 2017

Carlena Crain Rice “Granny”, 81, of Terry, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Briar Hill Nursing Home in Florence. Visitation will be 12noon until the 2pm funeral service Wednesday, August 23, 2017at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Terry Cemetery. Mrs. Rice was born in Florence, MS on October 4, 1935 to the late Donnie B. Crain and John Carl Crain. She was a former member of Sanctified Church in Terry and former teacher’s aid at Perryman School in Terry. Mrs. Rice loved to play—enjoying her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made their lives fun and left all of them with fond memories. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Manuel Rice; three children, Ronald Carl Rice, Jewel Evette Rice Knight and Donald Keith Rice; two great grandchildren, Anna Rose Cheatham and Damien Michael Thornhill. Survivors include two sisters, Maxine Lewis of Florence and Gloria Anderson of Harrelton,TX; three daughters, Frankie Marie Cheatham of Terry, Margie Kay Gordon (Johnny) of Harrisville and Rose Renee Pace (Michael) of Florence; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made by making donations to Stewpot of Jackson, MS.
