Bobbie Grace Jones Harris, 89, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Harris was born June 8, 1927 to Lanayer Jones and Hassie Lee Howell Jones in Mize, MS. She was a homebound member of First Baptist Church, Terry, MS. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS Friday, January 13 from 5-7pm and Saturday, January 14 from 10-11am. Funeral services will held in the funeral home chapel at 11am Saturday. Bro. Gary Bowlin will be officiating. Interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton. Mrs. Harris was known as “Other” and/or “Big Mama” to many people that crossed her path. She was very active in church with children and youth and loved her ladies Sunday School Class at Lakeshore Baptist Church and music. She loved to talk, send cards, bake and cook meals for those she loved and especially for many people that were in need. She impressed many great qualities to all those she met and showed her family and friends what doing for others really meant. Thank you for being that beacon of Jesus’ light and planting those seeds in those people you came in contact with and even those that never knew you were the one doing for them! Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Harris Strickland and her husband, Tommy of Raymond and Denise Harris Duell and her husband Steve of Jackson, MS, 3 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, and 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Len Barron “Jack” Harris; daughter, Linda Harris Rea; sister, Ailene Harrison and brother, John Buddy Jones. A special thank you to Stephen Duell, Michael Bradley, Loretta Jelks, Amber Munden, Cameila Hospice, Dr. Jerry “Scott” Harrison and Dr. Douglas Harkins. Thank you all for your special care and love to our sweet momma. We can never repay you for the love and kindness shown to her and us during this trying time.
