Mrs. Annice Jenkins Porter

January 20, 1932 — February 2, 2021

Mrs. Rosa “Annice” Jenkins Porter, 89, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. There will be a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. at Jenkins Cemetery in McAdams, MS. Rev. Steve Brown will officiate. Due to guidelines regarding social distancing, face coverings must be brought and worn at all times during the visitation and service. The funeral home encourages everyone to practice social distancing and will allow 10 people at a time in the building during the visitation. Mrs. Porter was born January 20, 1932 to the late George H. and Lela M. Jenkins in Cleveland, MS. She worked at BellSouth as a directory assistant operator, and various other positions for many years. She was a member of Bridepoint Church in Brandon, MS. Mrs. Porter absolutely adored her family and friends. She was a people person who was very outgoing and never met a stranger. To know her was to love her. She and her late husband William Porter took in more people and gave them a place to live than any of us can remember including most of their nieces and nephews at one time or another. When she was able, her favorite things to do were to cook, bake, crochet and play games on her phone. She was best known for her fried chicken, fresh apple cake and caramel pies. Along with her parents and siblings, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, William Porter and Albert Morrow; her son, Bryan Porter; and her grandson, Michael Porter. She is survived by her sons, Larry Porter of Phoenix, MS and Ricky (Ann) Porter of Pickens, MS; her daughters, Ginger Porter of Richland and Matha (Cecil) Rushing of Richland; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing is a host of nieces and nephews, including her favorite niece, Sharon and Sue, who thinks she is the favorite. Oh, how she loved them fighting over her. She was truly loved by all of us and she is much deserving of her home in Heaven.
