Mr. Shelton Eldridge Weathersby

February 16, 1926 — July 20, 2017

Shelton Eldridge Weathersby, 91, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be Saturday, July 22nd from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Cleary Cemetery with a full military service. Mr. Weathersby was a member of Victory C.M. Church in Florence where he served as a Deacon. He was employed with Jackson Fire Department before retiring from the MS Army National Guard as a Brigadier General. He proudly served his country from 1943 – 1986 in the military, during that time, serving in WWII. He was a member of the Nation Guard Association, American Legion, Retired Officers Association and Gideon’s International. Mr. Weathersby is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Bagley Weathersby of Florence; children, E. A. Sonny (Tricia) Weathersby of Florence, Linda (Kenny) Clark of Terry, and Kay Ladd of Terry; step-son, David (Mary) Sills of Crystal Springs; 9 grandchildren, Wendy, Christy, Casey, Amy, Cammi, Lacey, Kelsey, Joy and Drew; and 13 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Victory Congregational Methodist Church in Florence.
