Mr. Louie Cooper

December 8, 1927 — July 9, 2014

On December 8, 1927, a very unique, but compassionate person was born by the name of Hurbert Luellen “Louie” Cooper. He passed away in the early morning hours on July 9, 2014. Visitation is 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and also Friday, July 11 at 2:00 PM until the 3:00 PM service time in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Florence Cemetery. Louie was known over much of the Rankin and Hinds County area. He hitchhiked everywhere he went and rode many freight trains all over the countryside. He has told stories from bailing hay in Montana to going to Skid Row. He worked odd jobs here and there, mostly working for the Rankin County Road Department. Louie loved animals, his family and his many special friends. He had friends all over the Florence/Richland area and loved to stop by their homes and businesses to visit if only for a minute or two. He loved Ernest Tubb, Jim Reeves and Johnny Cash among others. He had a special love for his mama, Lillie. He had spent his last several years in Jaquith Nursing Home. Louie was a lifelong Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church, Florence, MS. He loved his Lord and could quickly tell you the plan of salvation. Louie is preceded in death by his parents, Morris Cooper and Lillie Mullican Cooper Miller Thorn and stepfathers, Grady Miller and John Thorn. Survivors include a very special sister, Ramona McDonald and sister Lois Webb, both of Florence; Nieces, Barbara Reis (Charles), Kathy Bomer, Johnnie Mae Harrison (Ken) and Chantay Steen and nephew, Tim Webb, all of Florence. Louie was very fond of his great nieces and nephews including Michelle Bonds, Brad Reis, Matthew Ingle, Maxie Bomer, Dustin Harrison, Shondra Ingle, John David Harrison and Joseph Steen, as well as many cousins. The family would like to take this time to thank everyone involved in his care at Jaquith Nursing Home, Adams Inn, Building 31, Whitfield, MS.
