“Jimmy” Lemon McCoy, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Carthage, MS. Visitation will be Friday, July 14th from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, July 15th from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. McCoy was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War for 8 years. Mr. McCoy loved to hunt turkey and squirrel and loved to golf. He was a member of the “Gospel Messengers” gospel group for years and was a devoted husband and father. Mr. McCoy is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Maude McCoy; brothers, Jessie and Jackie McCoy and sisters, Bertie Ayers and Mary Summerlin. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Imogene Davis McCoy; sons, John Paul McCoy (Cynthia) of Brandon, Tony Warren McCoy (Gail) of Mandeville, LA and Clarence Randal “Randy" McCoy of Leakesville; daughter, Kim McCoy Temple (Terry) of Florence; brother, Johnny McCoy of Lewisburg, WV; sister, Hilda Davis of Lewisburg, WV; 7 grandchildren and 9 ½ great grandchildren.
