Ola Virginia “Ginger” Hales McCaffrey went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2014. She was born June 7, 1950 to Robert and Ora Mae Hales who preceded her in death. Also preceding in death are her grandparents Robert Hales, Ora Hales Shivers, Roy and Luddie May Crosswhite. Ginger was a graduate of Forest Hill High School and MS Baptist School of Nursing. She was active in sports, especially softball and soccer and coached at the Southwest YMCA for years. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play soccer basketball and baseball and they loved their Granny coming to cheer them on. She was a member of Parkhill Baptist Church. Ginger worked in various doctor’s clinics and at CMMC as an ER unit secretary. While her two sons, Jeffery Karl and James Kerry, were in school, she drove a school bus and served as PTA president for several years. While serving as PTA president at Van Winkle, the school won the National Education Excellence Award, which was presented in Washington, D.C. She, Sue Nations, Principal Shirley MacNealy and several others went to receive this prestigious award. The school also won first place state awards for outstanding scrapbooks due to Ginger’s hard work. Ginger was married to Dorman Jeffery McCaffrey for 41 years. He was a caring, loving caregiver to Ginger during her lengthy illness. Ginger and Jeff were also caregivers for over 8 years to her grandmother who lived to be 1031/2 years old. After her mother’s death, Ginger and Jeff moved in with her father in Clinton to care for him until his death. She was always a compassionate caring person, thinking of others first. She is also survived by four grandsons, Chandler, Cody, Conner, and Logan; one brother, Marvin Hales; two sisters, Diane Pace and Pricilla Wooten; Half sisters and brothers, Donna Daniels, Debbie Allison, David, Lee and Danny Stewart and their mother, Betty Stewart and several nieces and nephews.
