Mr. Darsel Tebo Jr.

February 28, 1957 — June 24, 2017

Saturday, June 24, 2017, Darsel Tebo, Jr., 60 of Byram, passed away peacefully at Ochsner's Hospital surrounded by his family. And we all know that MamMaw Bonds greeted him with open arms. He was known by each of his names. Having served in the Air Force, working construction, with his heating, cooling, refrigeration certification, and at Packard Electric he was known as "Tebo." At school, doctors offices, and any introductions he was known as "Darsel" (which he preferred). But for those that knew and loved him dearly (family) he was "Junior." Junior was as avid hunter and fisherman. It wasn't only for sport, he loved to "cook his catch." He loved animals of all kinds. He delighted in keeping bird feeders filled and watching them. After being a double lung recipient and losing his sight, one of his only sources of entertainment was listening to the birds. Junior lived right on the lake with his loving and devoted wife Sherry. One of this greatest joys was photography, where he took pictures of God's creation; from insects, to flowers, to a sunrise over the lake, he captured the beauty. If not at work or with family Junior was normally with his best friend, that he considered more as a brother, Larry Smith. There was no telling what they would do from one day to the next, from sharpening knives, reloading bullets, repairing vehicles, to hunting and fishing. Junior wore many hats; son, grandson, nephew, cousin, brother, uncle, husband, father, and Papaw. He was Papaw to 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 3 of which lived in Byram and he absolutely loved being able to see them and spend time with them. And with all the other hats was a relationship that was their own. He survived by his wife Sherry Tebo; son Darsel Tebo III (Heather) of WI; daughter Jessica Tebo of LA; step-sons David (Rebecca) and Joshua Van Huizen of Byram; mother Doris Jordan of Brandon; sisters Theresa Croxton (Van) of Brandon and Ann Blanton of Byram; Mother and Father-in-law Bettye Herrington of Byram and Billy Herringtion of Biloxi. Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2:00 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A memorial service will be held at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Darsel Tebo or to Sherry Tebo, 1704 Spinng St., Byram, MS 39272 to help with transplant expenses. We want to thank the donor of Junior's lungs and the medical team at Ochsner's.
