Mr. Charles Norman Shack

May 10, 1932 — January 21, 2018

Charles Norman Shack, 85, went home to his Savior on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson. Visitation will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Tuesday, January 23 from 5-8pm. Visitation will continue Wednesday, January 24 from 10am until the 11am funeral service at First Baptist Church of Terry. Interment will follow at Terry Cemetery. Charles was born May 10, 1932 to Sol and Kizzie Shack in Florence, MS. He was a lifelong resident of Terry, MS and was a member of First Baptist Church of Terry. Charles also known as “Charlie” or “PawPaw” was as close as one can get on earth to being a friend to all. After service in Korea during the Korean War, Charles came home. Charles used to say, “after I got to Korea the fighting stopped. When my older brother got to Germany in 1945, the fighting stopped there too. Must be something ‘bout those Shack boys, when they got there all the fighting stops.” Charles is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Tom, Earl, and James Shack; sisters, Louise Zacchiroli, Catherine Williams, and Ellen Crain. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elsie Shack; daughters Norma Adcock (Henry Stephenson), Janie Brown (Charlie); grandchildren Brandi Ryker (Jay), Nikki Brown, Sarah Cockrell (Chase), and Chris Brown (Dannette); great grandchildren Caleb Brown, Olivia Ryker, Kinsley Heitman, Landry Ryker, Sydney Cockrell, Tori Brown, and Abby Brown; sister Gladys Peoples and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Gallant Hearts Guide Dog Center in Madison, MS. Online guestbook available at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.
