Mrs. Betty S. Butler

January 27, 1939 — October 3, 2015

Betty Kathren Smith Butler, 76, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 3, 2015, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:30 until the 2 pm service at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence, MS. Internment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Boulevard in Jackson, MS. Betty was a native of Lincoln County but lived most of her adult life in Florence. She retired from AT&T after a long career. Betty found great joy in her family and keeping up with all of the children’s activities. She prayed for her family faithfully. She was a member of Briar Hill Baptist Church where her delight was in baptismal assistance and Bible school registration. She loved her Sunday school class and her friends deeply. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Butler and by her parents, Virgil and Nell Smith. She is survived by her stepson Mark Butler (Jamie), her three grandchildren Michael Butler (Kelly), Allison Allen (Chad), Richard Butler (Meggie) and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Bobby Jones and Jeanette Watts (Ronny), her nephews Vann Jones (Robbin), Craig Jones (Melissa), Neill Jones, Brad Watts (Wendy), Blake Watts (Christina) and their families. Memorials may be made to Briar Hill Baptist Church at 707 MS-469, Florence, MS 39073.
